The film is a collaboration between production company Filmes de Plástico and Netflix. The main cast includes Rejane Faria, Flávio Bauraqui, Giovanna Heliodoro, Giovanni Venturini, Grace Passô, Karine Teles, Maíra Azevedo, Renato Novaes and Thalma de Freitas. Gabriel Martins wrote the original story and screenplay, Thiago Macêdo Correia produced, and Tiganá Santana composed the music.
Festival Run and Release
On Behalf of My Son had its international premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival and was selected for official competition at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. It will compete at the 28th Rio Film Festival, premiering there on Friday, October 9. The Brazilian Film Academy selected the feature to represent Brazil in the race for the 2027 Goya Awards.
The film opens in select theaters on November 5 and premieres on Netflix on November 20.
