What the fellowship provides

The Accelerate Fellowship is a four-month rewriting sprint for disabled film and television writers. Participants receive $30,000 grants and bespoke mentorship to develop a film or television spec script, according to the announcement.

Support includes writers groups, one-on-one mentorship, guidance from Inevitable Foundation staff and access to leading film and television writers. The program is intended to help fellows get a script ready to take to market.

The 2026 fellows

Erica Lane has written four films for Lifetime Television and is writing and starring in the indie comedy series Subs. Peter H. Lee wrote on Avatar: Seven Havens and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory after losing his dominant arm to cancer.

David Radcliff has written on The Rookie and Tracker and served five years as chair or co-chair of the WGA West Disabled Writers Committee. Emma Layden's credits include Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS and Sharkdog.

Kyla Harris and Ella Glendining, both BAFTA-nominated, are developing a folk-horror feature called Living Saints about two disabled women accused of witchcraft in 1500s Scotland.

Track record and context

The new cohort joins 20 previously awarded Accelerate Fellows, who have received close to $700,000 in unrestricted funding since 2021. Since its founding in 2021, Inevitable Foundation says it has supported over 160 disabled writers, filmmakers and podcasters with over $1.5 million in funding across its programs.

The foundation states that disabled people make up more than 25% of the population but represent less than 1% of writers behind the screen.

How much funding does each Accelerate Fellow receive?

Each 2026 Accelerate Fellow receives a $30,000 grant, along with bespoke mentorship during a four-month rewriting sprint to develop a film or television spec script.
